Circularity is not a trend – it is the only future
Why fashion must finally become part of nature – and how we can achieve this
Every item of clothing has an end. But what happens afterwards?
Most textiles are made from a mix of materials: cotton with polyester, elastane, synthetic dyes. The problem? These materials cannot be recycled. It ends up in landfill or incineration – releasing microplastics that pollute our environment for decades.
When I founded CHARLE premium haberdashery, one thing was clear to me: I don't want half measures. I want products that not only look sustainable, but actually are.
My answer to this: 100% circular elastic bands.
- No plastic. No waste.
- Only natural fibres.
- What is taken from the earth can be given back.
This is not a nice idea. It is a necessaryity. If we don't finally start thinking about our clothing as part of a cycle from the very beginning, sustainable fashion will remain an empty promise.
Recyclability is the ultimate goal of sustainability
Many people ask me, ‘Why are you stressing yourself out like this? Why not just use recycled plastic?’ Because I don't believe in half measures. Because true sustainability means that a product can return to nature. Without residues. Without waste.
And I am convinced that the future belongs to the companies that make this possible.
That's why I'm sticking with it. I'm developing new materials, experimenting with weaving mills and convincing fashion brands to break new ground. Because fashion doesn't have to destroy the environment. It can be part of nature.
And we can make that happen – if we have the courage to break with old ways.
